Venom Official Teaser Released Online: Tom Hardy's Spider-Man Universe. The first trailer for Venom, the Spider-Man starring Tom Hardy was released online on Thursday. The teaser for Venom has crawled its way online. It’s a darker, more psychological thriller than a traditional Marvel movie.

Tom Hardy plays Eddie Brock, a reporter for the Daily Planet, who is infected by an alien symbiotic that brings out his dark side. The movie seems more cerebral approach to a classic Marvel antihero. Both Venom and Eddie Brock previously appeared in Spider-Man 3. But, this is very much teaser. There are too many visual effects shots. Most of the focus is on Brock, a heavily accented voiceover lays his cards out. We see glimpses of his character before the Jekyll and Hyde-esque transformation.
Venom is directed by Ruben Fleischer, who has previously made two comedies (Zombieland and 30 Minutes or Less) and one gangster drama (Gangster Squad). Zombieland’s Ruben Fleischer directed the film rumored to be receiving an R-rating in the US rather than the typical PG-13 rating received by most superhero films. He can successfully translate the pages of Marvel comics to the big screen.
It is dark and somber tone suggests something more adult than the teen-movie spirit of the most recent film in the franchise, Spider-Man: Homecoming.
